whitewashing

Whitewashing walls is not an easy task... Just putting that out there.

My entire home is done in planks of wood - some cedar, some pine, some unknown. I love the wood look, however it totally needs lightened up.

SOOOO...

Buy the paint - talk to the expert. have game plan.

Scoop the paint. drop the measuring cup. dump on floor, add water, slop whitewash on the wall... guess this is going to be the right amount of each - no more choices there, and i am definitely painting now...

spend 3 hours paining, getting paint in hair because i slipped and hand hits wall, slide hand up wall, stop body by taking a face-plant on the wall.

clean up mess. happy with results.

so not easy but sure is purty:)

now to do the next 4 rooms

no worries - tara the spotted and paint covered unicorn has this!!

Non-Lather body wash

SERIOUS issue... What is wrong with my body wash???

Apparently, no matter how much I put on the luffa it will NOT lather. What is it???? Is it expired? Is it some weird non-foaming soap product that I am unaware of? is the water in new home too hard?

Continue scrubbing…

Board meeting not needed, Common sense kicks in – read label.

SIGH – this small bottle will never lather, for it is body lotion.

Shake head.

Electrician friend wanted

Self – uses microwave, power goes out.

Hmmmm – goes on a hunt for the electrical breaker box. Now where is a flashlight??? Oh yea cell phone app. Hit head on strange unknown thing in basement. Scream like ninny. After a bit of hunting finds breaker box, flips breaker. Moves microwave to another outlet. Okay works. Mental note, must have electrician investigate this.

Self – showers, plugs in hair straightener, turn on blow dryer…Blows breaker. Well at least I don’t have to hunt it this time, switch breaker. Move straightener out to kitchen. Mental note, must have electrician investigate this.

Self – Outdoor lights stay on all night and day. Flip every light switch in house. Cannot locate it.. Mental note, must have electrician investigate this.

   

Voice 1 who always says, "Be polite your mother raised you to be a nice person!"  Smile, this is your hot mess to deal with.

Voice 2 always reminding me, "Your mother raised to say nothing at all if you have nothing nice to say." I smile because there is nothing to do but figure it out.

Voice 3 is saying (in her normal annoyed voice of adult reason) Why are you stressing?? You know homes are money pits and try your ever loving nerves.

Voice 4 pipes in, having perpetual PMS, is snapping out a slew of profanity… @#$%^&*this HOUSE is gonna be the death of me! @#$%^&

Voice 5 comments are filled with uplifting quotes. “Smooth seas never create skillful sailors”

Voice 6, with all her determination to take over the world one step at a time, tossing glitter along the way – says Breath, it can be fixed.

Sigh – there is something to be said for home ownership, make friends with Electricians and …. There is definitely never a dull moment 😊

Search and SOLD

Search time: There are so many ways to search for housing, internet options pose unlimited researching. I found numerous places to live, looked at a vast amount of houses, and searched in a circle of decent commute time. At one point I thought for sure I was truly going to be homeless – or at least have to live with cousin for a bit. Then it happened, I came across one that would be a decent starting over point for me and Oakley.

  

Voice 1 who always says, "Be polite your mother raised you to be a nice person!"  Shake my head - It is very hard to do this because a big name brand owns the LLC on the cabin I want, causing pricing comparison issues. Then there was the deal with how you actually spell the Road name – yeah, it changes to meet the fancy of whom ever is declaring the spelling. Next up on reasons it’s so hard to be nice, the insurance company wants to change up costs – after supplying a quote and I bought the money order already.

Voice 2 always reminding me, "Your mother raised to say nothing at all if you have nothing nice to say." I must ignore this voice in this entire situation, for If I say nothing – nothing will get accomplished in a timely manner.

Voice 3 is saying (in her normal annoyed voice of adult reason) Why did I do this???? Can’t you see this is going to stress you to the max??? I DON'T KNOW!!!!

Voice 4 pipes in, having perpetual PMS, is snapping out her usual slew of profanity… @#$%^&* AND THIS IS WHAT HAPPENS when you try to do things on your own. ISSUES every turn of the way!!!! !@#$%^& She isn’t very wrong, and to make it worse I know others are merry thinking the same thing.

Voice 5 comments with today’s uplifting quote.  “Jump off the cliff & Build your wings on the way down”

Voice 6, with all her jolly personality, with all her determination to take over the world one step at a time, tossing glitter along the way smiles and states Oakley and I will make this work!! Toss the Glitter and embrace it!!

Yup - Embrace the idea of Enjoy the hand you are dealt. I know I will still cry myself to sleep some nights, hopefully less often. I will continue to curse the choices I made in the past but might be able to start laughing at them. LAUGH-ENJOY-SMILE each moment – they literally it won’t again 😊

Not BIG CITY - time to move

Nope – NOT for me. Time to start the search for new housing.

After many, many lists where written out and board meetings held in my head, the glaring result is I am not a BIG CITY life person.

After finding out that everything takes an hour to get to even though you live less than 10 miles away, I want to drive on the highway an hour and be moving no sitting and loathing.

Townhomes/Condos/Apartments are truly the adult version of a dormitory. There are even those annoying hall monitors of sorts – these come in the form of towing companies who sneak in the middle of the night and tow away vehicles not properly marked, making you THINK you have had your vehicle STOLEN, only to have to surrender a small fortune as dues for this mistake ☹

Not having freedom to maintain my living space made me feel like a caged animal.

  

Voice 1 who always says, "Be polite your mother raised you to be a nice person!"  repeats her earlier DONOT  lose control and curse at the fools who obviously failed to attend Drivers Education. DONOT tell off the kid in the hall bouncing the ball for an hour straight. DONOT go up and threaten the herd of Brontosaurus’ that moved in next door over their blatant disregard to quiet hours.

Voice 2 always reminding me, "Your mother raised to say nothing at all if you have nothing nice to say." Has me using a completely faux customer service voice as I call and inform the office I am leaving the housing development and refusing to tell the clerk what an utter failure to my expectations of this place they have been.

Voice 3 is saying (in her normal annoyed voice of adult reason) Why did I do this???? WHERE are you going to move too? SERIOUSLY – ummm girl you about to be homeless!

Voice 4 pipes in, having perpetual PMS, is snapping out her usual slew of profanity… @#$%^&* AND THIS IS WHAT HAPPENS when you lose your temper and can no longer deal with other humans!!! GREAT now Oakley and you are homeless!!!! !@#$%^&

Voice 5 comments with today’s uplifting quote.  “Taking risks and making choices is what makes life so exciting”

Voice 6, with all her jolly personality, with all her determination to take over the world one step at a time, tossing glitter along the way smiles and states Oakley and I will make this work, remember Nothing is permanent in life.

Still, embracing the idea of Enjoy the hand you are dealt. I still cry myself to sleep some nights, just not as often. I still curse the choices I made in the past, just not as often. I keep on laughing, smiling, & enjoying each moment – because I now know it literally it won't  again 😊

Empty nest - BIG CITY move

Step one in transformation to empty nesting: Sell small town home and move to the BIG CITY.

Realize the truth in BIG CITY life.

1^st – Find out that everything takes an hour to get to even though you live less than 10 miles away... Traffic is Devils way to bringing out the worst in humans.

2^nd – Townhomes/Condos/Apartments bring back the terrifying memories of college dorm life.

3^rd – Not having to adult with home stuff aka mowing, electric issues, updates also means no lawn to walk barefoot in, no garden area, & you have no say in what updates you get.

4^th – Taxes are better bc you live in the town you work.

5^th – There are a million different places to eat, drink, and be merry.

6^th – There are a million new places to explore.

Voice 1 who always says, "Be polite your mother raised you to be a nice person!"  DONOT  lose control and curse at the fools who obviously failed to attend Drivers Education. DONOT tell off the kid in the hall bouncing the ball for an hour straight. DONOT go up and threaten the herd of Brontosaurus’ that moved in next door over their blatant disregard to quiet hours.

Voice 3 is saying (in her normal annoyed voice of adult reason) Why did I do this???? What made me think living in THE Big City would work for me?? Where was my crystal ball to predict this??

Voice 4 pipes in, having perpetual PMS, is snapping out her usual slew of profanity… @#$%^&* AND THIS IS WHAT HAPPENS when we listen to others, STOP letting other make up your MIND!!!! !@#$%^&

Voice 5 comments with today’s uplifting quote.  “Nothing CHANGES if nothing CHANGES.”

Voice 6, with all her jolly personality, with all her determination to take over the world one step at a time, tossing glitter along the way, has yet again won the tiara of ruling today's round table discussion. Oakley and I will make this work, make the best of the new life here, if you want to move again – do it. Nothing is permanent in life. However,  side note to mention #3 did get some satisfaction on the interstate more than once on the interstate.

This board meetings with all my personalities, made me look at all the pro’s and cons of small town vs BIG CITY. Still, embracing the idea of Enjoy the hand you are dealt. I still cry myself to sleep some nights, I still curse the choices I made in the past. But I now know you need to laugh until you cannot breathe & enjoy each moment – literally it won't  again 😊
